Now that Zack Snyder’s Justice League has released, his fans unsurprisingly want to see more – be it sequels or Ben Affleck’s vision for The Batman – and a portion of them found an interesting way to attempt to make WarnerMedia listen.

They’ve decided to attack Warner’s next big release, Godzilla vs. Kong, by review-bombing it on IMDb. In addition to giving the hotly anticipated MonsterVerse smackdown a one-star rating, users are also using the film’s ‘reviews’ section to pressure the company into giving them exactly what they want.
Their demands include nothing short of a boycott of Warner Bros. and DC Films, the restoration of Zack Snyder’s DCEU, and the release of David Ayer’s cut of the original Suicide Squad. Shade and castigation were also thrown at WB/DC executives Toby Emmerich, Walter Hamada, and CEO Ann Sarnoff for “destroying plans.”
While the aims of these fans are understandable to a certain extent, their frustrations are misdirected, as Godzilla vs. Kong and Legendary Pictures’ MonsterVerse have nothing to do with DC Films or the DC Universe – except the fact the blockbuster film is coming out on HBO Max, home of The Snyder Cut.
In fact, Warner Bros. is only involved as the film’s worldwide distributor (outside of Japan, where the film will be distributed by Toho).
Godzilla fans on the other side are taking issue with these tactics, prominent among them YouTube channel and kaiju news breakers DangerVille. They expressed their disapproval of the review-bombing via tweet.
“If you’re one of these people rating Godzilla Vs Kong 1 star on IMDB because you want to restore the Snyderverse, something completely unrelated to Godzilla, I hate you,” they wrote.

DangerVille also shared more of the negative reviews wherein Snyderverse fans declared they were united, that they were the decisiomakers, and that Warner should be boycotted.
IMDB has since taken down the negative reviews, so the efforts on the part of some who really love Zack Snyder’s Justice League are for naught.
WB CEO Ann Sarnoff recently stated that the studio wants to go in a different direction with DC characters, though they will be holding onto the actors currently playing Wonder Woman, Aquaman, and The Flash. Plus, there might be hope for more Snyder-based content on HBO Max according to frequent rumors.
The future of the MonsterVerse after Godzilla vs. Kong doesn’t quite look any rosier than that of the Snyderverse, so vehement supporters of the latter sure did pick an unusual target.
Saying that, GVK appears unfazed by the review bombing. It raked in $122 million overseas in its opening weekends overseas and the film currently sits at a comfortable 7.4 rating on IMDB and 80 percent on Rotten Tomatoes.
GVK opens Wednesday in US theaters and exclusively on HBO Max.
