In the face of many a fan fear that the Disney Plus series would take such a tired turn in the name of ‘inclusivity’, Bo-Katan actress Katee Sackhoff has assured them that there are currently no plans to have her character replace Din Djarin as The Mandalorian‘s title hero.

Speculation that the last wielder of the Darksaber would soon receive top billing was first sparked courtesy of series EP Rick Famuyiwa.

Speaking to this idea during the 2023 Star Wars Celebration in March, Famuyiwa told fans, “I think now with Bo possessing the Darksaber, I know that there was a lot of expectations that might have shifted both in terms of what it meant for Din Djarin, but also for Bo and what does it mean? Who is the Mandalorian at this point? And so I think it could be anyone. And I think that’s what they’re trying to define in many ways, is what does that mean to be Mandalorian?”

Further fuel would be added to this speculative fire when, during an appearance on the premiere episode of Disney Gallery – Star Wars: The Mandalorian‘s third season, Famuyiwa asserted outright, “Bo in many respects this season is also The Mandalorian.”

“‘Cause it’s so much about her story,” he continued, “and her journey, and her, sort of, initial ideas of going back and bringing her people back together that got derailed after she lost the Darksaber.”

However, during a November interview with entertainment news outlet The Direct, Sackhoff explicitly denied that Bo-Katan was up for a potential promotion to series headliner.

When asked if there were any such plans for her character, Sackhoff outright told the outlet’s Russ Milheim, “No.”

“I think there’s always going to be a lot of speculation in this fandom,” she added. “You know, I think it’s one of the reasons why people love this fandom so much. And they love this universe so much that a lot of times it allows just enough ambiguity for people to interpret things the way that they want to interpret them. And out of that there is the ability to have a lot of misinformation get out, or just, you know, wishful thinking.”

The actress then asserted, “And I think in this situation, I think that the story of the Mandalorians and the story of Bo-Katan needed to be told, I don’t believe in any way that it was taking away from Din’s story, nor was that ever the intention.”

“And you know, Pedro and I aren’t in charge of who gets to lead the show [laughs],” she ultimately concluded. “This is Din Djarin’s show, it will always be Din Djarin’s show.”
