Musician Courtney Love recently showed her support for Pirates of the Caribbean actor Johnny Depp claiming that he saved her from a drug overdose back in the ’90s.

However, Love immediately backtracked on her comments about the actor, withdrawing her support from Depp.

On Sunday, Love said that Depp had saved her life when she overdosed on drugs in 1995, as she was struggling to deal with the death of her husband, and Nirvana frontman, Kurt Cobain, who took his own life in April of 1994.

“I don’t really wanna make judgments publicly,” in a video that was originally shared on social media and has since been deleted.

She added, “I just want to tell you that Johnny gave me CPR in 1995 when I overdosed outside The Viper Room with Sal.”

Love also revealed that Depp reached out to her daughter, Frances, writing her a lengthy letter for her 13th birthday.

“Johnny, when I was on crack and Frances was having to suffer through that with all these social workers, wrote her a four-page letter that she’s never showed me,” disclosed Love, adding that at the time she didn’t “really know” the actor.

“Then he sent limos to her school where all the social workers were crawling around, again, unasked, for her and all her friends to go to both ‘Pirates [of the Caribbean],’” she went on, adding, “He did it a bunch of times. He gave her her own seat [at the premieres] with her name on it.”

“I’ve never seen one of those Pirates movies, but she loved them. And, you know, she said to me when she was 13, ‘Mommy he saved my life.’ And she said it again. And he gave her own trailer,” she concluded.

Regarding Depp’s ongoing defamation trial, Love says that she does, indeed, feel empathetic towards Amber Heard, saying, “I’ve been the most hated woman in America. I’ve been the most hated woman in the world before TikTok and it’s a really… I have a lot of empathy for what that must feel like for Amber. F— man, wow, can you imagine being her?”

“But if you use a movement for your own personal gain, and you inhabit queer feminist intersectional spaces, and you abuse that moment, then I hope justice gets served – whatever it is,” Love elaborated.

In a more recent post on social media, however, Love elaborated on her stance on Johnny Depp and Amber Heard’s trial, claiming that all she wanted was to “show neutral support for a friend.”

“My side of the street, needs to stay clean,” Love prefaced. “I engaged in expressing thoughts online. The platform accidentally posted a story I didn’t want public (I’m sure it was not deliberate) in it I am weaponising snark (what else do we do with snark?) ”

Before arriving to a conclusion of sorts, she then pondered, “Was it my own (granted, massive, a character defect, ego?) Was it a genuine, expression of support for someone whose been a wondrous presence in our lives? Is it ANY OF MY F—KING BUSINESS? No. What about the times I’ve been publicly defamed? My true friends have done so much to help me during these public ritual systemic humiliations. That s—t matters.”

“I want to show neutral support for a friend. I don’t want to bully. I’ve been bullied enough. I did not want to express my own bias / internalized mysoginy[sic],” she later explained. “(Do give me a break on that one. Look at my JOB! I’m working on it) I want nothing to do with contributing more online bullying to someone enduring being bullied like noone ever has been online. Ever.”

Love further asserted. “In my program of recovery, ‘when we were wrong, we promptly admitted it’ I was wrong. The only important takeaway, of what was posted, is that I expressed that we should all stop having ‘fun with schadenfraude’[sic] (look it up: ‘Delight in another’s down fall’) & show sincere empathy for both parties.  If I hurt anyone, please accept my amends.”

In similar fashion, Stranger Things actress Winona Ryder shared a statement throwing her support behind ex-boyfriend Johnny Depp, writing, “I understand that it is very important that I speak from my own experience, as I obviously was not there during his marriage to Amber, but, from my experience, which was so wildly different, I was absolutely shocked, confused and upset when I heard the accusations against him.”

“The idea that he is an incredibly violent person is the farthest thing from the Johnny I knew and loved. I cannot wrap my head around these accusations,” she continued, explaining that Depp, “was never, never violent towards me. He was never, never abusive at all towards me. He has never been violent or abusive towards anybody I have seen.”

Ryder elaborated, “I truly and honestly only know him as a really good man- an incredibly loving, extremely caring guy who was so very protective of me and the people that he loves, and I felt so very, very safe with him.”

“I do not want to call anyone a liar but from my experience of Johnny, it is impossible to believe that such horrific allegations are true. I find it extremely upsetting knowing him as I do,” the Stranger Things actress concluded.
