Here’s our guide on how to fully evolve your Pawmi into Pawmo, and then Pawmot in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet.
Pawmi is one of the new Pokémon in the Paldea region, and the “Pikachu clone” archetype. That is, a cute rodent that’s an Electric Type; with the exception of the Marill line being Water and Fairy Types.
While evolving it into Pawmo couldn’t be simpler, you may be stumped when you want to evolve it into Pawmot due to a new feature in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet. Not to worry, we’re here to help!
How to Catch Pawmi
First ofo, let’s get that Pawmi. It’s supposed to be rare to find in South Province Areas One, Three, and Five. However, the easiest way to find one appears to be right by your home. Find the cliff overlooking Inlet Grotto with two palm trees, and there’s usually a Pawmi beneath it.
The Pawmi can also spawn alongside its evolution Pawmo in the South Province Areas mentioned above. Those looking to catch a shiny Pawmi should look for pinkish-red fur instead of orange.
How to Evolve Pawmi Into Pawmo
If you level a Pawmi to level 18, it will evolve into Pawmo. It’s pretty simple, but keep in mind Pawmi has terrible Defense and Special Defense stats. You may want to focus on foes weak to Electric type moves, or those with lower Defense (as Pawmi tends to learn mostly physical moves).
It’s worth noting that Pawmo can also be caught in the wild; practically everywhere!
- East Province Area One and Two
- North Province Area One and Three
- All South Province Areas except Area Two
- All West Province Areas

Although you can rarely find Pawmot in some five and six star Tera Raids, what trips up most players is the fact Pawmo will only evolve into Pawmot via Pokémon Scarlet & Violet’s new Let’s Go feature. You can order a Pokémon to walk alongside you, allowing it pick up items, and automatically defeat wild Pokémon through auto battles (don’t worry, it won’t attack shiny Pokémon).
Set Pawmo as the first Pokémon in your party, then tap ZR to throw the ball and have it walk along side you. You then need to walk a total of 1,000 steps- that’s your steps, not the little Pawmo’s. Keep in mind this has to be all at once. If the Pawmo is called back into its ball, manually or automatically if you run too far ahead of it, the counter will reset.
Unfortunately, there’s no real metric or alert for when you’ve achieved those 1,000 steps. Once you do however, level up the Pawmo once and it will evolve into a Pawmot!
Upon evolving Pawmot becomes an Electric and Fighting Type, and has pretty decent Attack and Speed. It even learns the move Revival Blessing that allows you to revive a fainted Pokémon in your party! It’s sure to make your adventure in Pokémon Scarlet & Violet shocking.
