Lady Sylvanas Windrunner also known as the Dark Lady and the Banshee Queen is the former Warchief of the Horde and the former rule of the Forsaken. Sylvanas first appeared in Warcraft III: Reign of Chaos before taking on a prominent role in World of Warcraft.

She was originally a high elf general and protector of Silvermoon. However, while fending off a Scourge invasion, she would be killed by the Death Knight Arthas Menethil. Menethil would transform Sylvanas into an undead banshee who would serve the Lich King.

Sylvanas would break away from the Lich King’s control and become the leader of the Forsaken. She would lead them to ally with the Horde and was key in bringing an end to the Lich King. She would eventually be made the successor to Warchief Vol’jin after he perished during the battle for the Broken Shore.

However, Sylvanas’ reign as Warchief would be short-lived during a battle against Varok Saurfang, Sylvanas declared that the Horde and the Forsaken meant nothing to her. After defeating Saurfang, she would flee Orgrimmar and pursue her own agenda in pitting the armies of the Horde and alliance against the old god N’Zoth.

Sylvanas was voiced by Piera Coppola in Warcraft III and Patty Mattson in World of Warcraft.
