Melissa Barrera Fired From ‘Scream’ Franchise After Accusing Israel Of “Genocide” And “Ethnic Cleansing”

A woke civil war is breaking out in Hollywood between the puppets and the puppet masters.
Over the last few years, Paramount Pictures and Spyglass Media Group have turned the Scream franchise into a shining example of woke rebooting. Taking an already established franchise and remaking it to fit modern progressive standards and audiences.
Actress Melissa Barrera was given the keys to the new Scream franchise, playing the role of the Hispanic daughter of franchise villain Billy Loomis. After moderate box office success for Scream 5 and Scream 6, another film was greenlit.
Fox News reports that Barrera was fired from the upcoming Scream after sharing a social media post in which the actress not only publicly sided with Palestine but also condemned the actions of Israel, further accusing the latter of committing genocide.
“Gaza is currently being treated like a concentration camp,” she wrote in one post on Instagram stories. “Cornering everyone together, with nowhere to go, no electricity no water … People have learned nothing from our histories. And just like our histories, people are still silently watching it happen. THIS IS GENOCIDE & ETHNIC CLEANSING.”
Barrera also posted several Instagram stories urging the US Government to call on Israel to stop their assault on the Gaza Strip while reposting the deaths of those in the region at the hands of Israel.
On October 7, roughly 2,900 Palestinian militants infiltrated Israel in a brutal assault on the nation that led to the deaths of 1,200 Israelis and foreigners including 859 civilians. As a result of the bloodiest day in Israel’s history, Israel has unleashed a ruthless assault on the Hamas terrorists in Gaza which has led to the deaths of over 13,000 people as of this writing.
“I have been actively looking for videos and information about the Palestinian side for the last two weeks or so, Why? Because Western media only shows the other [Israeli] side,” she wrote in a post. “Why do they do that, I will let you deduce for yourself.”
Addressing the firing of Barrera, a spokesperson for Spyglass told Variety, “Spyglass’ stance is unequivocally clear: We have zero tolerance for antisemitism or the incitement of hate in any form, including false references to genocide, ethnic cleansing, Holocaust distortion or anything that flagrantly crosses the line into hate speech.”
Hollywood has become the cultural epicenter of woke political opinion and as a result, the industry is in a state of civil war over the Israel-Palestine conflict. The progressive actors and actresses in Hollywood view Israel as a nation of colonizers and view Palestine as the victim of the war.
Unfortunately for Paramount, Wednesday actress Jenna Ortega has also dropped out of Scream 7, making any attempts to make her the new face of the franchise, following the firing of Barrera, even more challenging.
Last summer, Paramount lowballed Neve Campbell out of the franchise, after the actress announced that she would not be returning for the sixth installment, because the proposal she received did not equate to the value she has brought to the Scream franchise.
This means that the only actor from the original cast left is Courtney Cox. With the firing of Melissa Barrera, it will be interesting to see if Paramount is forced to bring Campbell back into the fold with the franchise in need of a lead.
