Just days after his statements gained widespread attention across the internet, the anonymous man who claimed Evangelion Rebuild and Dragon Ball dub voice actor Daman Mills molested him when he was just 15-year-old has fully retracted his initial accusations.

The accusations against Mills was first brought to light when the alleged victim – an anonymous man whose identity remains publicly unknown – published a lengthy statement via a now-deleted Google Doc in October 2021 (as per the Google Doc’s document details) that began with the outright declaration that “Daman Mills molested me.”
“This all happened between 2012 -2015,” explained the accuser. “I was never 18 during any of this. I was a 15-year-old boy; a minor. Daman, a 19-year-old adult.”
According to the man, over the course of his years-long friendship with Mills, the voice actor had regularly engaged in non-consensual sexual activity with him while he slept, including by “caressing” his bare body, “prodding my penis through my shorts”, and even “masturbating right next to me”.
At the conclusion of his lengthy statement, the accuser ultimately asserted, “There is a lot more to this story, and several things I did not mention. The point of this is to bring awareness to sexual abuse. I was underage the entire time we were friends, and he was a grown adult.”

“I do not wish to press legal charges, as a way to condemn my anonymity,” he added. “However, I just want my voice to be heard, and maybe help others who are afraid to speak-up. As for Daman, I hope that this has at some point been a learning curve for him, and that he has never treated anyone else in these ways.”
In response to these accusations, Mills reportedly sent the accuser a Cease and Desist letter on February 18th, not only arguing that the relationship was mutual and consensual, but also demanding that the man agree to retract his accusations by February 25th and refrain from any future contact with Mills’ employers.
Ostensibly refusing to Mills’ terms, the man then proceeded to speak with Anime News Network, whose executive editor Lynzee Loveridge would go on to publish a piece on March 8th featuring further details and evidence regarding the supposed situation, such as Facebook and mobile phone text messages, as provided by both the accuser and a friend.
Reached for comment at the time by ANN, Mills told the news outlet that he has retained legal counsel and had been advised to refrain from publicly commenting on the situation.
However, on March 13th, the accuser once again reached out to Loveridge, only this time with the intention of fully retracting his initial claims.
“At this time, I wish to permanently retract my statements and allegations regarding Daman Mills,” he told the reporter. “I wish to apologize for potential harm I have caused anyone involved with or affected by this incident. Thank you for your understanding.”
Two days later, a Twitter account claiming to have been created by the accuser published an additional “Statement on Daman Mills in my Own Words,” wherein the man explained of his decision to rescind the allegations against Mills, “When I reached out to Anime News Network a few months ago,m I wasn’t in the best place. I think what I really needed was advice or help, instead of this.”
“I retracted my allegations because I regret my actions,” he continued. “I’d take them all back if I could. I guess I hoped my statement yesterday would fix some of the damage I’ve caused, but instead it looks like people are spinning it to where I was threatened into retracting.”
“I wasn’t,” he clarified. “I haven’t heard from that attorney in weeks. I retracted my statement because I regret me actions. Honestly, the thing I want more than anything is just for the article to be taken down.”
Sharing the alleged correspondences between himself and Loveride as proof of his identity, the supposed accuser concluded, “I am posting this to Twitter myself, so you can read my own words, without any spin or anything. I will not be commenting on this again, on this or any other social media account.”
