Marvel Studios released their latest trailer for Thor: Love and Thunder and like the first trailer it makes it abundantly clear the film does not respect the characters, instead crafting cheap, crass jokes at their expense.

If you recall, in the first trailer, Marvel Studios and Disney included a joke about Chris Hemsworth’s Thor being gay for Chris Pratt’s Star-Lord.

Pratt’s Star-Lord tells Hemsworth’s Thor, “Remember what I told you. You ever feel lost? Just look into the eyes of the people that you love.”

It then depicts Thor trying to capture Quill’s eyes as Star-Lord looks over at his crew. Quill responds, “Not me.” To which, Thor says, “What? Just listening.”

The latest trailer tries to outdo the degeneracy of the first by having Russel Crowe’s Zeus flick his fingers to remove Thor’s disguise.

However, Zeus removes all of his clothes, and Hemsworth’s Thor is shown completely naked with his butt blurred out in the trailer.

After his clothes are removed, all of the women attending Zeus faint.

Natalie Portman’s Jane Foster comments to Tessa Thompson’s Valkyrie, “Should we help him?”

Valkyrie openly gawks at Thor alongside Foster and replies, “Eventually. Grape?”

Not only did the trailer strip Thor of his clothes for a cheap laugh, but it follows the horrible retconning from Marvel Comics that Thor is somehow a title rather than his actual name.

The trailer opens up with director Taika Waititi’s Korg narrating, “And after all that…he reclaimed his title…as the one and only Thor.” However, as he says those words just as he is about to grab hold of Mjolnir it flies to the hand of Portman’s Jane Foster.

In fact, as he says the one and only Thor the camera is on Foster catching Mjolnir.

From there, the trailer gets even more cringe as it depicts Thor as a man pining over Foster as he knows how long it has been since they broke up down to the day.

It does give us a first look at Christian Bale’s Gorr the God Butcher and makes it abundantly clear that he plans on killing all gods because he believes they only care about themselves.

There’s also an interesting line towards the end of the trailer when Hemsworth’s Thor tells Gorr he has something worth fighting for, which separates himself from the other gods that Gorr has killed.

The official description for the film states, “The film finds Thor (Chris Hemsworth) on a journey unlike anything he’s ever faced – a search for self-discovery. But his retirement is interrupted by a galactic killer known as Gorr the God Butcher (Christian Bale), who seeks the extinction of the gods.”

“To combat the threat, Thor enlists the help of King Valkyrie (Tessa Thompson), Korg (Taika Waititi) and ex-girlfriend Jane Foster (Natalie Portman), who – to Thor’s surprise – inexplicably wields his magical hammer, Mjolnir, as the Mighty Thor. Together, they embark upon a harrowing cosmic adventure to uncover the mystery of the God Butcher’s vengeance and stop him before it’s too late,” the description concludes.

The film is expected to arrive in theaters on July 8, 2022.
