Rumor: Test Screening of The Suicide Squad Screen Reveals Villain and Taika Waititi’s Mysterious Role
Potential key details for James Gunn’s upcoming The Suicide Squad, including the film’s villain and the mysterious role played by Taika Waititi, have allegedly been revealed after a test-screening was held by Gunn and WarnerMedia.
Reported: New Rumor Claims To Reveal The Suicide Squad’s Real Main Villain
Cosmic Book News reports that the rumored screen test confirms that the film’s ultimate villain is the infamous Starro, a giant starfish-like alien driven who seeds worlds with miniature offspring that attach to the faces of beings and control their minds, who first appeared in 1960’s The Brave and the Bold #28.
However, as CBN notes that “DC insiders” claimed at last year’s San Diego Comic-Con last year that the film would be told from a villain’s perspective, it’s possible that Starro may be manipulated by another antagonist, such as the Thinker (Peter Capaldi) or the dictators ruling the South American locale Task Force X has to infiltrate (Joaquin Cosio and Juan Diego Botto).
A close analysis of previously leaked set photos provides strong visual evidence that the Star Conqueror and his children will appear in the film:
CBN also reports that the test-screening has revealed that the supposedly the previously undisclosed role played by Thor: Ragnarok writer and director Taika Waititi.
Waititi, whose name was featured among the massive cast on the first poster issued by Gunn but has not appeared in any identifiable way in any of the film’s promotional material, will allegedly appear onscreen as the first incarnation of the Ratcatcher.

When Brazilian model Daniela Melchior was cast for the film, it was announced that she would be playing a gender-swapped version of Ratcatcher.
However, Melichor was credited as Ratcatcher 2 during the film’s recent DC FanDome panel, which confirmed that she would be playing a successor rather than a female-version of the original character.
Waititi’s role is reportedly limited so a short cameo, which makes it likely that Waititi may only show up long enough to pass along his mantle to Melichor.
Comic book writer and Beyond the Trailer founder Grace Randolph of Beyond the Trailer also confirmed the reports of Starro’s appearance and Waititi as Ratcatcher 1:
The Suicide Squad is set to release in theaters on Aug. 6, 2021
