DeSaad Confirmed for Zack Snyder’s Justice League Trailer, Plus New Steppenwolf Image

Where Darkseid shows up to conquer, fewer aren’t far behind than his servant and right hand DeSaad who, true to form, will be by the tyrant’s side in the Snyder Cut of Justice League.

And DeSaad’s presence will be felt in the upcoming trailer for Zack Snyder’s version according to a new report from Grace Randolph who got a sneak peek after her recent interview with the director.

But Randolph stated she only saw an unrendered outline, as in an unfinished effect, which means DeSaad will principally be CGI.

“Yes, I will because I haven’t seen rendered,” Randolph said, answering if she’ll have a reaction video once the trailer is shown at DC FanDome this month.

“And I will admit at the beginning of the reaction that I’ve already seen it unrendered,” she continued. “I wanna see DeSaad’s face… I only saw like an outline.”

DeSaad made a cameo in the reshot Justice League finished by Joss Whedon, kind of. Black-robed and hooded druids resembling DeSaad surrounded Steppenwolf in the History Lesson fight scene.

They shuffled into a spaceship once he was defeated and it isn’t hard to imagine DeSaad was one of them. Zack Snyder verified last year he was cut from the film.

The invasion of Earth is led by Darkseid in the Snyder Cut and his underling may be included, more distinctly so this time, along with some dialogue.

Who plays DeSaad is the big question and we have our answer. Much like Darkseid, who’s voiced by Ray Porter, DeSaad is portrayed by a voice actor. That actor, who Porter appeared to confirm a year ago, is an English performer of stage and screen, Peter Guinness.

Guinness made small appearances in Tim Burton’s Sleepy Hollow and Alien 3. He’s also lent his voice to radio dramas across the pond. Adaptations of Doctor Who, The Phantom of the Opera, and Judge Dredd are among them.

Zack Snyder’s Justice League might be his biggest turn to date. It wouldn’t be the most chaotic production he’s been part of – not to anyone who knows the history of Alien 3.

We also have a new image of Steppenwolf’s design in the Snyder Cut to share. An updated render and our first look at the original design outside of concept art, Zack Snyder posted the low-resolution still on Vero.

In his post, Snyder teases a hi-res Steppenwolf will be seen in the finished film, if not sooner. “Just working today pulled this out of the editorial sorry he’s Low resolution but I’ve seen him in all his hi-Rez glory and he’s a thing to behold,” he wrote.
