Through a campaign named No More Dirty Banks, woke Hollywood celebrities have demanded the Royal Bank of Canada and subsidiary City National Bank to withdraw support from the Coastal GasLink pipeline in northwestern British Columbia.
Mark Ruffalo, Leonardo DiCaprio, Scarlett Johansson, Joaquin Phoenix, Taika Waititi, Marisa Tomei, Josh Gad, Ava DuVernay, Amy Schumer, Edward Norton, Michelle Pfeiffer, and Robert Downey Jr. are amongst the elitists demanding the Canadian bank stop financing fossil fuels.

The open letter demands City National Bank to “Withdraw support from the Coastal GasLink pipeline, effective immediately,” in an effort to “Uphold, affirm and respect the rights of Indigenous peoples.”
“It is critical that CNB and RBC not only ‘respect’ the rights of Indigenous Peoples, but adhere to policies and practices that ensure the Free, Prior and Informed Consent (FPIC) of Indigenous peoples as defined in the United Nations Declaration of The Rights of Indigenous Peoples (UNDRIP) under Article 32,” the statement continued.
The petition signed by the billionaire Hollywood activists urges the bank to “Stop funding fossil fuel expansion,” demanding the aforementioned financial institutions to “end the funding of extreme fossil fuel expansion projects, specifically fracking and tar sands.”
“City National Bank’s parent company Royal Bank of Canada is bankrolling the climate crisis and violating the rights of Indigenous Peoples,” the letter reiterates, accusing the Canadian institution of being one of the world’s largest funders of fossil fuel.
The petition elaborates, “Though RBC claims to be a leader in climate-conscious banking, since acquiring CNB in 2015 RBC has spent more $160 billion to become one of the world’s largest and most aggressive financiers of tar sands, fossil fuel extraction, and transport. RBC is now the fifth largest funder of fossil fuels in the world.”

“Though publicly claiming to ‘respect the inherent right of Indigenous peoples to self-determination’, RBC is heavily invested in the Coastal GasLink fracked gas pipeline now bulldozing through the pristine territory and waters of the Wet’suwet’en Peoples, without the consent of the Hereditary Chiefs,” the document argues.
The petition signed by these woke Hollywood elites then concludes, “The time to defund Coastal GasLink is now. RBC must withdraw from the Coastal GasLink fracked gas pipeline now and stop financing fossil fuels.”
Marvel actor Mark Ruffalo uploaded a video further explaining what the No More Dirty Banks campaign is attempting to achieve.
“Right now, major banks like the Royal Bank of Canada are financing a fracked gas pipeline bulldozing through the land of the Wet’suwet’en nation in Northern British Columbia, Canada,” Ruffalo prefaced.
The woke actor then claimed, “The Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs never consented to this pipeline construction through their territories, which would risk the sacred headwaters of the Wedzin Kwa River.”
“But here’s where it gets complicated,” he said, arguing that “The Supreme Court of Canada recognised Wet’suwet’en hereditary chiefs as rightful title holders of the land, but corporations still get away with consulting only ‘elected leadership’ put in place by the colonial government and not the rightful title holders.”
During a press conference held last Wednesday, Ruffalo said, “We have a responsibility to each other. And it’s time for good people and privileged people, like us, to do the right thing. To make other people, good people, uncomfortable. That’s the only way we’re going to break through this system of racism and harm.”
In January of 2019, British Columbia Supreme Court judge Marguerite Church granted GasLink an interlocutory injunction against Wet’suwet’en protesters, declaring that said native individuals were breaking the law by blockading the natural gas pipeline.
“The defendants may genuinely believe in their rights under Indigenous law to prevent the plaintiff from entering Dark House territory, but the law does not recognize any right to blockade and obstruct the plaintiff from pursuing lawfully authorized activities,” wrote Church at the time.

Hollywood elitist and global warming activist Leonardo DiCaprio recently made quite the bold prediction, claiming that Earth “literally” has nine years left on its “ticking clock” if people don’t “take science seriously.”
DiCaprio’s prediction was made only a few weeks after being seen relaxing on Swiss billionaire Ernesto Bertarelli’s carbon-intensive luxury yacht in St. Barts.
In 2016 the hypocrite actor reportedly flew on a private jet to the World Economic Forum in Davos, Switzerland to lecture others about global warming, slamming coal, oil, and gas industries, and claiming, “those entities with a financial interest in preserving this destructive system have denied, and even covered up the evidence of our changing climate.”
Woke celebrities like Mark Ruffalo and Leonardo DiCaprio had previously pressured President Biden into cancelling the permit for the Keystone XL pipeline project.
In his first day in office, the 46th president of the United States revoked the project he had initially backed, effectively killing up to 11,000 direct jobs that its construction had created, as well as an estimated 60,000 indirect jobs in secondary industries.
Interestingly, Department of Energy Secretary for the Biden administration, Jennifer Granholm, openly admitted that the best way to transport fuel across the United States is via pipelines.

“These are not easy solutions because there may or may not be the right rail cars; there may not or may not be the deep-water ports available for the Jones Act to be able to respond,” said Granholm when asked about the feasibility of using rail cars to transport fuel.
She went on, “So this particular area of the country there…this is why we have doubled down on ensuring that there’s an ability to truck oil in…gas in. But it’s…the pipe is the best way to go.”
